By Chippy2000

INTRO
So, firstly, you will need these tools -
GoldMap (Map editior)
AGIXP (In-Battle Sprite Editor)
Pokemon Gold Silver Sprite Editor (Overworld Sprite Editor)
Gold Tweak (Various Useful Things like editing Intro Sequence,
ROM Expansion to 4MB)
ItemED GSC (Item Editing)
TMaster GSC (TM Editing)
MartED GSC (Mart Item Editing)
StartED GSC (Starter Editing)
TradeED GSC (Trade Editing)
VBA Emulator (To Play or Beta Test)
New Game Menu Editior (New game menu Editor)
Pokemon Gold or Silver ROM (The game to edit on)
Paint (Sprite changing for AGIXP)

Getting Started
Firstly, open up the VBA Emulator. Then press File, and Open Gameboy...
Select the Pokemon Gold or Silver ROM. Try testing it to see if the
ROM works. Press Z, X, ENTER and BACKSPACE (The buttons you use) on
various areas.

USING THE UTILITIES
Now you've seen the game in use and got the hang of the VBA, let's
start up with using the Utilities.

 THE ''GSC'' UTILITIES
The GSC Utilities are simple tools. They focus on certain aspects of Hacking
and even the newest of newbies can get the hang of it in 2 seconds!

   ItemED GSC
ItemED GSC alters Prices of items, Hex Codes, Variables, Hold Effects, Bag slots,
Options when chosen and Can You Use It parts of Items. So, basically, you can
choose a Master Ball, and change the price to $1, and make it heal a Pokemon's
HP every single turn (Leftovers effect) when held.

   MartED GSC
MartED GSC alters the items sold in a PokeMart. You can replace the normal items with
Master Balls if you wanted to (They cost $0 by default)!

   StartED GSC
StartED GSC Alters the Pokemon you can choose at the start of the game and their levels.
For example, you can replace Cyndaquil, Chikorita and Totadile with Raikou, Suicune and Entei,
ALL AT LV.100.

   TradeED GSC
TradeED GSC alters the Pokemon you can get in trades (And Pokemon you give) and alter their levels.
For example, you can give a Pidgey and get a Ho-Oh LV.100 in return.

ADVANCED HACKING
Advanced hacking is hacking with harder tools. These tools are usually essensials. Some are
simple when figured out, but some may never figure it out.

MAP EDITING WITH GOLDMAP
GoldMap is a nifty tool that can edit Wild Pokemon and Maps. However, It can only use tiles
assigned to the tileset, and exposes Beta tiles, too. You can alter events (And where they
happen) and where warps go. In a nutshell, you can completely change an entire town. As for
Wild pokemon, you can make any Pokemon appear in ALMOST any area. The Editior can only work
in areas where pokemon appear BY DEFAULT. You can edit their levels and what the Pokemon is.
Sprite editing and Name editing cannot happen. Only editing where they appear.

POKEMON EDITING WITH AGIXP AND PAINT
AGIXP can edit a Pokemon's Sprite.

 SPRITE EXTRACTION
Firstly, Open up Paint and save a blank file onto the Desktop. Call it 'Sprite temp.bmp' bmp
making it a bitmap file, a Gameboy can reconise this image.
Now, click on 'Browse Data' and choose your ROM. Now, skip through colors. Choose
'Build new Compression'. Skip through the sprite template. Save over the blank file.
Now, open up the Bitmap image you saved with paint. You can edit it however you want.

SPRITE INSERTION
Open up AGIXP again. Instead of selecting a ROM, Select the image you edited. Skip through the
colors again and check the sprite. If it's got lots of black, it's because graphics are limited
to three different colors. Skip through the 'Build New Compression' part. Choose you ROM next.
Tick the 'Pokemon/Trainer Pic Insertion' box and if the name is to be changed, tick the 'Change
Name' Box. Choose the Pokemon's number (Check Bulbapedia for the numbers of pokemon, only up to
number 252) and choose between Frontpic or backpic. You can play around with the Trainer Pics and
Unown Pics if you want to. ALWAYS TICK THE 'DELETE ORIGINAL PICTURE' BOX. THIS IS IMPORTANT.

GOLD TWEAK'S TWEAKING
Gold Tweak can alter the Oak intro, Music and name screen. You can skip the name box if you wish to
do so, change the max letters (Causes glitches) and even choose the sprite shown! In the Oak pictures
you can change them to other things. You can choose the Player sprites and Marril's picture! The skip
FMV sequence gives you the option to skip the entire thing and the gameboy chooses whether the rom is
for super gameboy or not!

THAT CONCLUDES THE EXPLANATION.
